Sutra Class this Saturday, Dec. 5th

This Saturday in the sutra class we will begin at the top of the 2nd chapter, Sadhana Pada. For svadhyaya assignments I am only going to pose 2 questions. Ask yourself these questions and see what you come up with.

What obstacles does my personality present?

How does my yoga practice improve my concentration and correct my negative behavior?

Thank you

Thank you to all of you who attended the sutra class at Stillwater. Thank you also for your willingness to share and discuss your discoveries and questions. Please feel free to post comments or questions here on the blog. Also feel free to email me or ask me directly. I would like to have more chanting of the sutras incorporated in the classes. It is amazing how much time it takes just to go over 3 or 4 sutras. I am interested in opinions on how the class is being formatted and if anyone actually has any interest in chanting. I am going to continue posting voluntary assignments, so look for those. Thank you again for your continued interest and support!

Another Voluntary Assignment

The first part of this assignment is to practice!!! Write down the poses you practice. Try to practice at least for 1 hour. Get out a timer if you have to. Write down what you are trying to achieve, even if your goal is simply to stay off the couch or stop eating Doritos. Before or after you practice, think about the sutras we have covered thus far in class. Is there a sutra that is particularly inspiring to you and your efforts in your home practice? Have any of the sutras shed light on your asana practice at home or in class? Did any of your discoveries evolve through your practice session or perhaps carry over into another class or day of practice? And finally, if you have done any of the other assignments, how have those experiences contributed to your home practice?
